Councillor Andrew McGuinness of Fianna Fail supports the mosque while Councillor Sean Tyrrell of Sinn Fein  kneels in front of the Imam.

Sitting in front of the Imam is city political activist Margaret O’Brien holding the microphone and speaking in support of the new mosque for Kilkenny.  She was also carefully selected by the local radio station, KCLR , to give a detailed “interview” that was broadcast to all the local populace afterwards, while any representative of the mosque protesters was not invited to reply.

This charming scene was played out at an Open Day in the temporary Freshford Road mosque to support the proposed new Kilkenny mosque to be located at the Hebron Industrial estate in Kilkenny city.
Cllr. Malcolm Noonan was also present to support the mosque while he smeared those opposed to it across kilkenny as “haters and racists” , which is of course patent rubbish.

The chief objector Eugene McGuinness ( never allowed to speak by any of the local MSM media since the controversy began!) actually states that his position has “nothing to do with race or religion” but with the fact that the  traffic  gridlock would  lock him and hundreds of his neighbours into their estate at Bishop Birch Place and that thousands of residents all around would be seriously affected too.

He accepts that Councillor Noonan has every right to support the mosque even if he lives a couple of miles away across the city from it. He also accepts that his own nephew, Councillor  Andrew McGuinness , has a personal right to support the mosque as he does.

He says that anybody has a right to support it , but shouldn’t do so if they have any thought for all those of their fellow citizens in St. John’s Parish who will have to live with it in their daily lives.

Eugene holds that we haven’t a chance if citizens don’t stick up for one another in solidarity across this city and county and therefore calls on everybody in Kilkenny to stand by their fellow citizens faced with this mosque against their will without ever having been consulted or represented on the Council by any councillor or by any local TD in the Dail.

Eugene has never yet been allowed to speak about the mosque by any local newspaper or radio station in Kilkenny , despite being the elected spokesperson for thousands of objectors across the city.

Such dictatorship didn’t exist here since the time the local “Kilkenny People” was closed down by the `British a hundred years ago with their machinery smashed up. That’s as bad as it is again in Kilkenny today after a hundred years of so-called “freedom”.

Eugene has an appeal with An Bord Pleanala against the mosque and will go to court on behalf of all the objectors if he has to. he is also going forward for election to Kilkenny County Council in the local elections in May to carry on the fight right into the Council table.

Outside of The Irish Times that has interviewed and published the objectors’ side of the story, Eugene has had no hearing with any other media bar The Kilkenny Journal online. We believe in remaining objective and impartial in the face of public controversy in the best standards of Irish journalism.

*******************************************************************************

Cllr. Andrew McGuinness made an appearance of being neutral at the tumultuous meeting in the O’Loughlin Gaels club in April of last year, but there is now photographic  evidence that he was at the temporary mosque on the Freshford road, Kilkenny, supporting the construction of the new mosque for Kilkenny at the Hebron Industrial Estate, slap bang in the middle of where all his former neighbours live.  Andrew lives at Parcnagowan, Kilkenny city, these days.

Dad John McGuinness TD seems to be genuinely neutral in the matter, while Andrew’s uncle Eugene McGuinness is the chief objector to the new mosque on account of its location and the traffic hazards he maintains it would create.

The Kilkenny Journal has always maintained that the Freshford Road location of the present mosque would be the best spot to locate the new proposed mosque, that is now under planning appeal on account of objections , including that of Eugene McGuinness, with Bord Pleanala .

Well at least this now simplifies matters in the upcoming local elections for Kilkenny County Council on May 24th next when all those against the mosque can vote for Eugene and those in support of the mosque at Hebron can vote for Andrew.

CLLR. ANDREW McGUINNESS LETS HIS NEIGHBOURS DOWN.

As is his democratic right, one of our local councillors, Andrew McGuinness, has emerged as a supporter of the mosque that the Kilkenny Islamic Community proposes to build at the Hebron Industrial Estate.  But in doing this he has let all his old neighbours down after they voted for him.

KiIkenny city  seems to be split wide open on the issue, though a lot more oppose the mosque here than are for it.  Andrew’s uncle Eugene McGuinness, Hereditary Freeman of Kilkenny,  is the chief objector.

KILKENNY COMMUNITY NETWORK.

Eugene has placed an objection with An Bord Pleanala against the mosque and will also contest the upcoming Kilkenny Council election against the mosque on May 24th this year when Andrew seeks re-election.

The objectors have formed themselves into KILKENNY COMMUNITY NETWORK , electing Eugene McGuinness as their chairman.

Others have official objections as well, especially a motor company on the Hebron Industrial estate on the grounds that they say that the mosque would lead to increased traffic that would interfere with their trade.

Kilkenny County Council had granted outline planning permission despite 34 official paid objections  to the mosque.

O’Loughlins GAA club , across the road from the mosque site, have also objected on traffic grounds through their Chairman , ex detective-garda Brian Murphy.

His reverence Imam Ndure is anxious that it goes ahead. He says that the project will be a boon to Kilkenny culturally, and that all the locals are most welcome to the mosque coffee shop when it opens.

It is estimated to cost between 5 and 6 millions  that Eugene McGuinness charges is coming from the Saudis – while Imam Ndure insists that the local Islamic community is collecting for it over the past two years and that one hospital doctor alone has contributed the sum of 50,000 Euro, and that this is an indication of the level of support for his new mosque.

Councillor Malcolm Noonan of the Green Party also supports the mosque as do local Sinn Fein representatives. Most other local politicians remain tight-lipped in view of the upcoming local elections in four months’ time.

Cllr. Noonan welcomed the “enrichment by cultural diversity” that the new mosque would bring to Kilkenny and called Eugene McGuinness and his merry band of objectors “haters and racists” – a theme echoed by the local KCLR radio.

Malcolm  also welcomed the mosque cafe and library and the jobs that would be created to build it here – though he did not attend the O’Loughlin Club meeting to support the Imam!

John McGuinness TD remains non-committal as do the other local FF & FG  Dail deputies so far. He had facilitated the taking of  signatures from constituents  against the mosque at the controversial O’Loughlin meeting last April, that his son Cllr. Andrew McGuinness chaired.

ONLY ONE WOMAN SUPPORTED THE MOSQUE.

Only one woman stood up at that meeting to welcome the mosque – she said she was from Kells and was seen chairing another meeting in favour of the mosque organised by W.A.R. (War Against Racism) attended by about 20 people  in the Newpark Hotel the following week.
Happily  there has been no racism or hate activity against the mosque or muslims in Kilkenny, so that all turned out to be a false alarm.

[There was a picket at the O’Loughlin club gates by three members of W.A.R., alleging “Racism” and calling people “fascists” as members of the general public walked passed them ]

After a tumultuous but otherwise successful  meeting in the O’Loughlin Gaels Club last April, when Imam Ndure insisted that the new mosque would not draw any extra traffic,  at least tempers on both sides have now well calmed down.

And that’s a great relief. Eugene McGuinness promises that if an Bord Pleanala don’t overturn the council permission he will go to the high court if necessary to oppose the construction of the mosque at that site.

He swore he would go all the way to the supreme court, and even the European Court of Justice if needs be to stop it being built at that site which is up near his own home, claiming the extra traffic would block him and his neighbours in.

He received over 1100 signatures from locals in a petition against the mosque.
However the local priest administering St.John’s parish, Fr. Frank Purcell, claimed that “it would be un-christian to go to court against the mosque”.
The reverend father exulted in crying out to a Dublin newspaper, arms outstretched, that “Jesus wants the mosque!”

Well, maybe Jesus wants it, but  thousands of local residents, who will all be seriously affected by the mosque traffic, don’t . Eugene asked them all  – but unlike Fr. Purcell he has received no such direct message from Jesus…

The Imam remains nonplussed, naturally looking to be in love with the idea of his own first purpose-built mosque. He too lives nearby.
He says that dedicated Islamic doctors at the local St. Luke’s Hospital are financing and collecting for the project, that they started it all by renting out the present temporary building that houses the Islamic Centre on the Freshford Road twenty years ago.

About 200 objectors attended that controversial meeting in O’Loughlin’s last April. The verdict from An Bord Pleanala is expected next month.

Eugene McGuinness has said that he has no objection to the mosque if it is sited more suitably elsewhere and that as far as he is concerned, “neither race nor religion enters into it”and he deeply resents having been falsely smeared as a racist , which he is not.
He remains confidant that the many objections will register with An Bord Pleanala, happy that everything is being done legal and proper.

And he promises to let The Kilkenny Journal know the moment An Bord Pleanala informs him and the other parties, so our readers will know first. But it appears that whatever side wins, the other side will appeal to the High Court.

[Andrew McGuinness is Vice-Chairman of Kilkenny County Council, former Mayor of Kilkenny city.  Eugene McGuinness is an Hereditary Freeman of Kilkenny.]

SCIENTIFIC GENIUS ACCUSED OF BIGOTRY.

Nobel Prize winner who helped discover DNA’s shape stripped of titles over race remarks

James Watson claimed that genes cause a difference between black people and white people on IQ tests.

NOBEL PRIZE-WINNING scientist James Watson, who helped discover that DNA is a double helix shape, has been stripped of several titles by the lab he once headed.

Watson, who lost his job in 2007 for expressing racist views, had his honorary titles revoked by Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, which said it was reacting to his remarks in a television documentary aired earlier this month.

In the film, Watson said his views about intelligence and race had not changed since 2007, when he told a magazine that he was “inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa”.

He claimed that modern social policies were “based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours – where all the testing says not really”.

Watson also said that while he hopes everyone is equal, “people who have to deal with black employees find this is not true”.

In this month’s documentary, he said that genes cause a difference on average between black people and white people on IQ tests.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory called his latest remarks “reprehensible” , adding that they effectively reversed a written apology and retraction by Watson in 2007.

The New York lab said it had revoked three honorary titles, including chancellor emeritus and honorary trustee.

Watson has long been associated with the lab, becoming its director in 1968, its president in 1994 and its chancellor ten years later, while a school at the lab is named after him.

On Friday, his son Rufus said that his father, who is 90 years old, was in a nursing home following a car crash in October.

“My dad’s statements might make him out to be a bigot and discriminatory,” he said, adding that this was not true.

“They just represent his interpretation of genetic destiny. My dad had made the lab his life, and yet now the lab considers him a liability,” he said.

Watson shared the 1962 Nobel Prize with collaborator Francis Crick and scientist Maurice Wilkins for discovering in 1953 that DNA was a double helix, shaped like a long, gently twisting ladder.

The breakthrough was key to determining how genetic material works.

The double helix became a widely recognized symbol of science, and Watson himself became famous far beyond scientific circles.

Proof that no matter what a genius you may be and no matter how accurate your science the liberal elite simply do not want to know.

IRISH JUSTICE MINISTER TELLS A BARE-FACED LIE & SHOULD RESIGN.

IcharlieRISH JUSTICE MINISTER TELLS A BARE-FACED LIE ABOUT ROOSKEY FIRE.

by Michael McGrath.

“The hotel had recently contracted with my department to provide accommodation for 80 asylum seekers who have come to our country to seek protection, many of whom have experienced conflict and trauma and are vulnerable,” Flanagan said.

This is a bare-faced lie by Charlie Flanagan, our Minister for Justice next door in County Laois.

For asylum seekers are not refugees, they are illegal aliens who have committed a criminal offence by crashing into this country, many without personal identification – they could be anyone – and therefore do not deserve to be rewarded for it.

The fire is, of course, regrettable, but Irish history shows us that in the battle against injustice to their communities the Irish will resort to such tactics and will not idly stand by.

For the Irish were never consulted either in referendum or in any election about this compulsory choice of their villages for resettlement centres. The incident has to be understood as such a reaction, surely? People denied democratic choice will resort to such dangerous deeds and fire is the worst, it’s everybody’s nightmare.

But if Mr. Charles Flanagan thinks that because of this we are going to go along with him in his false version of events given out of the side of his mouth, he is very wrong. In fact he doesn’t deserve another vote in his impregnable Laois fortress while he deliberately goes against the Irish people with such a lying claim.

For only genuine refugees have an entitlement to international protection – asylum seekers don’t! In fact the latest statistics are that only 8% of them are finally adjudicated to have a right to remain here, though few are ever actually deported . There’s about 50,000 of them “on the run” throughout the country , though they still receive some welfare assistance and are seldom arrested.

But simply because they are not arrested this does not mean that they are legal, far from it. And that’s where the likes of Flanagan in this government are out to bluff and con the Irish people who naturally resent their villages being chosen without any consultation whatsoever but rather at the diktat of this minister and his Department of Justice.

Indeed many are turned away at our airports and put back on the next flight home and this must happen more, that’s what the local Irish communities are saying to the likes of Flanagan and his top civil servants.

If the situation was handled with true justice and care for the communities then there would be no such criminal fires lit in reaction by a community otherwise powerless and with no say in their own futures because of the minister’s tactics and lies.

These communities are deeply affected by the insertion of such sheer weight of numbers into their midst, it affects directly the capacities of their local schools where their own children may not gain admittance due to the increased numbers seeking educational access. It affects medical access too. And many of such centres are weary of so many unvetted strangers in their midst in view of all the attacks across Europe in recent years.

All this said, setting fire to any building is always wrong and never justified. But Flanagan should stop lying and tell the truth to the people and consult them personally. Or else he should resign and get out of politics for mouthing such evident falsehood.

Of course we sympathise with those of the asylum seekers who are genuine and who would contribute by work and taxes to this country eventually. Indeed any of them here for two years or more without doing a stroke of work should be sent home.

The country does not need any more people coming in here dependant on long term welfare, that’s really bad economics if the country is ever to recover fully and especially in view of fears over Brexit. On the other hand fire is horrific and has to be stopped. Now why couldn’t Mr. Flanagan simply state this truth instead of pouring more lies on the problem?

He is a thundering disgrace and should resign forthwith!
