The Broguemaker, Castlecomer Road, Kilkenny

KILKENNY JOURNAL originally announced the purchase of this building and site by the Council – the first the councillors heard that their own Council had bought it. We are watching to see how many immigrants will be housed there, as is happening all across Kilkenny city and county and all over ireland – while we have 140, 000 on the Irish council housing lists and ten thousand mainly Irish people homeless.

The council will seek permission to build 10 apartments in the existing building under Part 8 of the Planning and Development regulations.

It also wants to build two new houses and four apartments in the car park next to the Broguemaker. We will be watching to see if locals get these houses and not refugees or other assorted immigrants  as is usual now.

It also envisages demolishing the existing dormer house, St Jude’s on the Castlecomer Road and putting two apartments there instead.
